Hi everyone, our names are Elena and Brayden, and we’re reaching out after the most devastating night of our lives.

Last night, our home in Prince George burned down. We made it out safely, but we lost everything we own — our clothes, furniture, important documents, all of our belongings, our work items, and even our Christmas presents we had already bought for family and friends.

But the most painful part of all is that we lost our two babies — our dog Maria and our cat Lillith.

Maria and Lillith weren’t “just pets” they were our whole world. They made our home feel warm, alive, and full of love.

Maria, my tiny chihuahua with the biggest soul, was truly the sweetest girl in the world. She lived for her Greenie treats. She made everything feel lighter. No matter how long or exhausting my nursing shift was, she would greet me like sunshine bursting through a storm. Maria had been my best friend for the past 8 years of her short life. No matter how sad or exhausted I was, she made me smile the second I walked in.

And Lillith… she was our quiet little shadow. Lillith had a different kind of magic, she was Brayden’s heart and soul. The two of them were inseparable. She followed him everywhere, curled up with him every night, and loved him with the deepest, quietest devotion. Their bond was something rare and beautiful… she wasn’t just his cat; she was his comfort, his peace, his little shadow. Losing her has left a hole he doesn’t know how to fill.

They brought us peace, joy, routine, and purpose.

They were our emotional support, our comfort after long days, and the heart of our home.

Losing them in the fire has been the most painful part of all of this. We’re grieving them deeply. They were family. Our babies — and life feels so much emptier without them.

We are suddenly starting from scratch, right before the holidays, while grieving and trying to figure out where to go next.

Funds will go toward:

• Emergency housing & basic living costs

• Replacing daily essentials (clothing, shoes, toiletries)

• Replacing Elena’s nursing scrubs so she can return to work

• Saving for a new rental and damage deposit

• Cremation/memorial costs for Maria and Lillith

• Replacing the Christmas gifts that were destroyed

• Transportation and emergency expenses

We’re doing our best to stay strong, but this has been completely overwhelming. Asking for help is not easy, but right now we truly need it.
