“Humble people ask for help”
Let me start by saying, I started this tradition to honor the memory of my mother, Stella. It was a way to share my past with my children and to show them how rewarding kindness towards others can be. This started as a small family endeavor and I never planned on asking anyone for help.
As my daughters grew up with this tradition, I was asked to invite and “ask” others for help. I did this, somewhat begrudgingly, and the results were amazing. With donations from so many people, we were able to double, triple, and even quadruple the number of people we fed. There are scores of people that were responsible for that and I appreciate them all.
Over the years, I have made so many people smile with a simple donation of a Thanksgiving meal, for them and their loved ones. This year, I find myself in a position that I am not in love with. I can only commit to feed so many people. Going forward, this tradition may become a year-long process, with revenue streams that will allow me to comfortably reach the goal of feeding 500-600 families. In order to do that this year, I need to ask for help. Donations made to the GoFundMe would certainly be helpful, but donations of any kind, at this point and up until Thanksgiving, would be greatly appreciated.
This year we are in the works to donate around 650 full Thanksgiving meals on the Sunday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and truly used for a great cause.
