Pro Fondos Hector Atabal
Donation protected
I created this account with the purpose of receiving your donations for Hector "Atabal" Rodríguez Medina , my uncle, who started medical treatment to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Hector Rodriguez better know in Puerto Rico as “Héctor Atabal” is one of four musicians that started Atabal 35 years ago. Hector’s knowledge of Latin music and musicians has made him a well-known co-host of radio programs and has recently written a book about Arsenio Rodríguez in Puerto Rico. He has been diagnosed and is being treated for multiple myeloma .
100 days after the transplant ( he is on day 41 and is at home ) Hector will undergo 2 years of maintenance treatment. This means two years of chemo and other medicines. The cost of chemo treatment was $10,000 monthly and we don't know how much will be covered by his medical plan or medicare. So again, please help with your generous donations. To those of you who have donated : Thank you.
Feel free to send positive messages. We do read them all.
"Multiple- myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Plasma cells help you fight infections by making antibodies that recognize and attack germs. Multiple myeloma causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells."
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/multiple-myeloma/symptoms-causes/syc-20353378. As many of you know, the costs of medicine and expenses associated with medical treatment and recovery are incredibly high. Even with a medical plan, Medicare and some aid- expenses are high and money seems to vanish. This type of transplant is a standard treatment for patients with multiple myeloma. Although an autologous transplant can make the myeloma go away for a time (even years), it doesn’t cure the cancer, and often the myeloma returns."
