Our Last Duel - Yad-Fu Films NEWEST Movie: Exodus

Donation protected
Hello There!

For the past six years, we at Yad-fu Films have been creating award-winning action fan films on Youtube. Since 2016, we’ve been entering these fan films into a competition called Saber Comp, which has allowed us to venture into a community we’ve only dreamed of being a part of. Our fortunate success has made us want to push even further. We’re excited to announce our most ambitious film yet, Exodus!

We need YOU!

Over the years, our team has changed and grown, but the core desire to challenge ourselves as filmmakers continues to steer us forward. That has led to bigger productions, results and, of course, higher costs. We've always taken pride in doing everything by ourselves, including self-funding. But now, we’re grateful to open our doors and allow YOU to have the opportunity to be a part of our winning team! We’ve been lucky enough to reach such a wide audience over the years, and now we need your help to make this movie our best one yet!

Final Duel?!

Let me introduce myself. I’m Michael Yadvish, the man behind this whole charade. You see, this will be the last chance I get to make a saber duel with my friends with whom I started this journey. The core trio of Yad-Fu Films, Dan Sowden, Eric Barber and myself, are all headed in different directions in our lives. Although we’re all excited about these new chapters, we want to ensure we close out this one the right way. We have been battling each other with toy sabers since we were twelve. We used to choreograph battles in Dan’s backyard while playing The Matrix Reloaded CD on a portable Boombox, positioned right next to our Sony Handycam because we didn’t know how video editing worked. Cut to nearly twenty years later, and these films we created together have only strengthened our bond. We strive to bring that same childlike passion into every film we make with the hope of inspiring people just like us. This final duel aims to capture all that spirit and enthusiasm into an epic showdown that will knock your socks off!

What is Exodus?

I don’t want to give away too much. I can say that this film has been shaping up to be a tear-jerking, action-packed, beautiful piece of art. We’ve created powerful characters, blood-pumping choreography and memorable moments. The vision is clear and coming to life with every passing week.
More details will be shared with all of our “Executive Producers.”

How Can You Help?

Production has already begun! But it’s never too late to get in on the action as there are several phases during the filmmaking process. Pre-Production Costs: ~$4,500
-Set Design
-Costume assets
-Costume tailor
-Equipment Rentals
-Character Props
-On-set Equipment

Production Costs: ~$4,000
-Makeup artist
-Production crew
-Stunt crew
-Camera crew
-Food, snacks and water
-Trevor’s airheads
-Travel expenses

Post-Production Costs:~$4,500
-Editor
-Colorist
-Digital assets
-Visual Effects Artists
-Sound Design
-Music Composition

Marketing:~$2,000
-Movie Theater Premiere (December 28th, 2022)
-Film Festivals
-Promotional content creation

Funding Goals

$15,000:
This is our top-tier goal. This will allow us to cover personnel and equipment expenses adequately. Our visual effects department would be able to operate at full capacity to deliver next-level effects. Our marketing team would be able to secure a state-of-the-art luxury movie theater for our Premiere (December 28th, 2022) and enter all of the ideal Film Festivals. Anything beyond this goal would allow us to spend more resources on visual effects and bolster the compensations for our hard-working crew members.

$10,000:
This goal allows us to compensate personnel and cover most equipment expenses fairly. The visual effects and marketing departments would be the most affected by this budget. Our VFX team would be able to create high-quality visuals, but we would not have the resources required for them to bring their work to another level. Our marketing team would have to scale back our premiere (December 28th, 2022) and be more selective regarding film festivals.

$7,000:
This is our minimum goal to bring our vision to life. Not all departments can be compensated equally, and only some equipment expenses can be covered. However, all phases will be able to complete their workflows. We would be able to create all the necessary visual effects with some ambitious ideas hitting the cutting room floor. Marketing would have a low budget to secure a local theater (December 28th, 2022), and only a few film festival entries will be possible.

$2,000:
At this goal, we would be able to finish the rest of our shooting days, but the movie would not be able to be completed until some time in 2023. We can call this our doomsday goal...

FAQS

How do I know if my contribution on GoFundMe is considered a tax deductible donation?
If you donate to a registered charity fundraiser on GoFundMe, then your donations are likely to be eligible for charity tax deduction. Here’s how to know whether you’re donating to a fundraiser for a certified charity. You may want to donate to a personal or individual cause (fundraising for personal projects, in memory or life milestone, for example) that is not linked to a registered charity. Though traditionally not considered a tax-deductible donation, it is worth checking with your tax accountant whether your donation is eligible.
This is for a non-profit film. Please check with your tax accountant for eligibility.
