Our Dear Mother Bibi Fareeda Harrison

Bibi Fareeda Harrison, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Brampton, ON on 24th of July 2025 after a courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Her funeral service will be held this Sunday at Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery at 10:00am, followed by janaza, prayer, and burial at 11:45am. A reception will follow at 1:00pm.

Fareeda was born on 3rd of October 1953 in Berbice, Guyana to Kahtoon and Muhamed Haniff. At age 15, she immigrated to Canada and, in the years that followed, helped bring her five siblings and both parents to join her. While building a life in Toronto’s East End, she raised three daughters: Alicia, Paula, and Melisa. She worked for many years at the Ontario Sports Center and later as a caterer and baker, where her cooking became a source of joy for so many.

In her later years, Fareeda traveled the world, visiting places like England, Dubai, and India. She loved reconnecting with old friends and making new ones wherever she went. She was a proud grandmother to Anisa, Anaya, and Dominick. She spent her time between Toronto, New York, and The Bahamas, laughing with friends, wandering the aisles of the health food store, and offering a helping hand wherever she could.

Her family shared this tribute: “She always found something to give, no matter how little she had, because she gave with her whole heart.”

She is survived by her daughters Alicia, Paula, and Melisa, her grandchildren Anisa, Anaya, and Dominick, and the many relatives whose journeys to Canada she helped make possible.
