Lake's Cancer Treatment Fund
Donation protected
Lake only had a few symptoms that suggested something was amiss; After a soccer game he mentioned that it was hard to decide which ball to kick (although there was only one option) and he was not feeling well most mornings before school. Bloodwork showed nothing suspicious so we moved on to an opthamologist to try and find a cause for the double vision. That exam led to an MRI. Halfway through the MRI our world shifted forever. A tumor. "Not possible", I thought. "He is a healthy, active 9 year old boy who loves playing soccer, recess at school, spelling and hanging out with his family. He's sweet and thoughtful and leaves notes on my bedside table." He was rushed to the ICU at Children's Mercy downtown where Neuro Surgeons were waiting. Surgery was scheduled quickly and right before they took him in he asked me, "Mom, will you do the surgery? I trust you!"
He had a successful surgery on the 5th, however, he will have to undergo radiation and chemo. This is a devestating blow to the family. The financial burden will be great and we have a long road ahead of us. We appreciate any donation, large or small, that will help defray the costs so we can better concentrate on helping Lake get better while continuing to provide for his 4 siblings. Through it all, we have had the most amazing prayer support! Honestly, the prayers of a believing community are the reason we have made it this far. We serve a big God! He knew this tumor existed long before we did. We believe He guided the surgeon's hands during the 10 hour surgery and we believe he will continue to bless our family as we look to Him for strength. Thank you for your continued prayers for Lake's recovery.
