On March 8 our beloved Brenda Sewell was called home to her Heavenly Father. Over the past 25 years, she has endured cancer three times never once complaining. Her family is at peace knowing she is no longer in pain and is in a happy state with her loved ones on the other side.
She was born with a special gift of always being more concerned for others more than herself.
In August of 2014 Brenda was suddenly struck with an infection causing her body to go septic. She was life flighted to EIRMC where she was in a comatose state for several weeks. While undergoing tests to find the source of infection, the doctors once again found cancer. She then underwent chemo treatments to once again fight the battle. In February she was deemed "cancer free". One week later, congestive heart failure was the next battle. On March 1st the Doctors operated on Benda and remove fluid from her lungs. As a family, we were excited to see her improving and hoping to take her home. Her kidney's began to shut down. She was taken off life support and a "Do Not Resuscitate" order was given. We all said our tearful goodbyes, but the fighter in Brenda came out and she rallied. She spent her last two days visiting, joking and worrying about others. On Sunday morning her great big heart gave out and she passed peacefully. Her husband Steve sat vigil by her bed for weeks on end. He missed work, sleep and everything else to make sure she knew he was there. The insurance deductible, lost wages from work, funeral costs and related expenses are daunting. Any one who knows them can attest that they would go without to make sure others were provided for. Any amount you can share will be graciously accepted and forever remembered.
