Thanks for visiting my GoFundMe! My name is Obocho Peters and I am now Brooklyn's 12-year-old CEO.  Check out my website to see how your support has encouraged and inspired me to NEVER GIVE UP! www.ObochosCloset.com

This is how it all started.
When I was 9-years-old, I came up with the idea to sell the clothes and shoes I no longer wore when my mom told me that she couldn’t afford to buy me 8 toys from the movie “Avengers Infinity Wars.” When she shared her hardship with me, I realized that other families must face these same challenges when taking care of their children. That idea turned into the mission I have today—to help the community GROW. When I told my mom that I was interested in turning re-selling my clothes into a thrift store business, she decided to enroll me in a small business course, and from there, my business was born!

Now, I am a CEO & President of my own company called Obocho's Closet, providing affordable clothes and shoes to children ages newborn to age 12-years old living in underserved communities in NYC.   In the beginning, we sold everything online through my website.  Then my dream came true. On my 11th Birthday, I opened up my first physical thrift store  where people can come buy clothes for their kids.

My business goal is to…

Help other low-income families have access to necessities and teach them how to save money for their children’s college funds. Since my business is for-profit, my company gives back to the community by investing a percentage of the profits in providing FREE financial literacy  seminars geared towards teaching parents and kids how to save for college or pursue other goals like entrepreneurship.

Since my business is a for-profit with a business model usually associated with a non-profit, I have to work 10 times harder to receive financial support needed.

Your kind donation will…

• Help cover the cost of operation  in order to serve the community better.
• Help continue to pay for the store location in Brooklyn until my business secures needed funding..
• Help my company continue to provide FREE Financial Literacy Seminars to my local community.
• Help pay for miscellaneous business costs such as vendor’s licenses/events, marketing & promotions, t-shirts geared to fundraising, transportation to/from events, and other costs that may arise.

Every donation is appreciated no matter how small or big. Thank you all so much!

My mother always tells me, "You are NEVER too young to make a difference, Obocho. If you can see it, you can LIVE it."

Today, I truly believe we all have the power to make a difference. My name Obocho means "I Am Love" and I AM your future advocate for children who wants to spread my love with the community and the world.
