I am writing this and starting this fundraiser on behalf of the many friends who love and care for Petra Ramirez, our friend and colleague, as she and her family are going through a difficult time.

Many of you may know Petra Ramirez (Nurse Ramirez) as a calm, caring, and deeply dedicated professional. Her quiet presence reflects years of experience as a school nurse, and a genuine love for the students and staff she serves each day.

Last year, Nurse Ramirez was diagnosed with colon cancer. She faced her diagnosis with remarkable strength, completing six months of chemotherapy while continuing to work and care for others—just as she always has. Recently, new scans revealed additional concerns, and she will soon begin a new chemotherapy regimen. At this time, it is unclear how much this treatment will limit her ability to continue working in the role she loves.

Nurse Ramirez and her husband are raising three children and are grounded in faith, prayer, and hope for a positive outcome. Like many families facing cancer, they are navigating uncertainty—balancing medical appointments, treatment decisions, and the financial impact that comes with out-of-network bills and potential loss of income during treatment.

So many friends, family members, and colleagues have asked how they can help. This fund is meant to provide support with medical expenses and help ease the financial strain while Nurse Ramirez focuses on healing. Any contribution—large or small—will make a meaningful difference during this time.
