The funding will help us with overheads to make "Northwich Pride presents" events happen - marketing, venue and artist costs, the provision of materials and overheads which will enable craft and engagement activities to happen. These events will generate additional funds that will ultimately be used to produce a large-scale Northwich Pride event.
Over the past five years, we’ve seen Pride events entering the Northwich calendar ranging from The Quayside Pride Fest and Pride@TheDog, to the numerous drag shows at That South African Place. Now, Northwich Pride 2024 aims to showcase the range of local organisations and community groups working in partnership to promote diversity and inclusion for all the residents of the town.
During 2024, Northwich Pride have been running a series of workshops for the "Northwich and Cheshire Pride Community Quilt" project at locations across the town. Throughout the remainder of 2024, Northwich Pride will be hosting the following events and activities:
- "Cheshire Pride: Telling Our Stories" Exhibition at Weaver Hall (11-26 October): This exhibition will celebrate the diverse voices of the LGBTQ+ community in Cheshire, highlighting stories and experiences through the lens of pride and inclusion.
- Community Quilt Workshops (October): There are two workshops planned in October 2024, providing a creative space for people to contribute to a community art project. The workshops are free to attend, with all materials provided and no experience required. Details for booking on to one of the two remaining workshops can be found on the Northwich Pride Facebook page.
- Northwich Pride Presents "Cake, Craft and Conversation" at the Methodist Outreach Centre (Saturday, 2nd November, 2-5pm): This family-friendly event will combine socialising (cake), creative activities (craft), and open discussions (conversation) all focussed on supporting the LGBTQ+ community in Northwich. Vendors, information stands, and live music will also be part of this free event.
Activity in 2025 will then focus on a series of ‘Northwich Pride Presents’ ticketed events that will support the longer-term vision for Pride in our community, aimed at fundraising and creating a sense of belonging. More news will follow as plans are now worked up.
The team are now working to establish a Community Interest Organisation (CIO) in order to support all activity.
