Help Ninja-Ken, Version 2.0
Donation protected
My husband, Ken-Lin Wong, (aka, Ninja- Ken) and I have been married for three and a half years; we dated for a year before getting married. We met later in life. We are so happy we found each other! He introduced me to the True Jesus Church. However, right now, we are truly going through the "worse" part of "for better or for worse." This has been the most difficult challenge we have ever faced in our lives!
Help us create Ken-Lin Wong, version 2.0 for many more happy years of marriage!
Thank you very much for all of you who donated time, money, services, goods and other necessities and prayed for Ken-Lin's healing during the first several months after his stroke in early March. He was hospitalized for 6 weeks, and has been home from the hospital for about 5 weeks. He has improved his speaking and in his ability to move his head and eyes left. He has a long way to go as far as mobility and being able to use his left hand, arm, leg, and foot.
While at home, he started out with physical therapy twice a week, progressing to three times a week, and I hope soon, he will have therapy 4 days a week. Of course, we also do home therapy with him, but we are not nearly as good as the experts. Even with all of the generous donations, we will still be in need of more money to continue his therapy. A 1-hour session costs $80. One session with a friend who volunteers her time, is free, and she will try to do a second free session per week. Just the 2 paid ones twice a week for a year, will cost at least $7,680. He is progressing, but very slowly.
His mom tirelessly cooks carefully-crafted meals to give him the most healing and nutritious foods. Ken's tastebuds have actually changed from all of this healthy food; he doesn't even like the food he used to eat anymore. She has also done the full-time job of caring for him during the week for the last 5 weeks, as I finished my semester teaching. I helped with his care on weekends. His dad has provided uplifting sermons, prayer, and helping his mom and I with heavy lifting. I work with him on mental, visual, memory, and critical-thinking exercises in the form of flash cards and brain games.
Now I can work with him much more and give his parents some break. Family and many church members visited in the hospital, prayed, and donated. Than you very much for everyone's help!
We have thanked many in the 1st Go Fund Me campaign. We want to specifically thank a few more people. We want to thank Joseph Hanby, owner of Texas Mechanical & Facilities, who graciously fixed the A/C in our home, to provide a comfortable place for Ken to come home to. Look them up for any HVAC needs. It's so wonderful to enjoy A/C again!
I also want to thank all of our friends and family for all of their generous support financially and in donating time or supplies. I also want to send a warm thank you to Adrianna Cristiano, owner of Adrianna Zumba Fitness Studio for donating her services to help with Ken's rehab. He isn't doing Zumba yet, but she warms up his muscles, stretches them, and gently exercises them with great results!
We still have money from the first Go Fund Me campaign, which was for many things, in addition to Ken's recovery. We are continuing with home repairs from Hurricane Harvey. There are continuous supplies used for Ken's daily care. His expenses, including physical therapy, are $1100 a month. I would also like to get Ken health insurance. The best deal I can find is $450 a month for Medi-Share. More money will be needed in the near future to continue beyond 7 months of therapy, but continued medical supplies, medicine, and a few more home repairs are also needed.
Whatever help you are able to provide in this time of need would be greatly appreciated! Help us create Ken-Lin Wong, version 2.0!
