A devastating flash flood has swept through communities along the Trishuli River in Nepal, destroying homes, businesses, bridges, and livelihoods. Enoch (vice president of Nuwakot Christian society) said 3 churches we were destroyed. Our friend- share he estimates 800-900 believers( Rasuwa and Nuwakot district) are missing. 40 bridges were swept away which are the main ways to connect villages.
For us, this tragedy is personal- this is where Michael’s uncle lives and some of our students are from. The bridge connecting to Michael’s family’s village was also destroyed.
Through Light 2 the World, our U.S.-based nonprofit ministry, we have direct relationships with people in the Trisuli Bazar area.
Some families have lost their homes and possessions. Others are trying to figure out where they will sleep, how they will replace essential household items, and how they will begin rebuilding their lives.
We want to stand with 8-10 of the most affected families and help them take their first steps toward recovery.
## Our Goal: Help Families Directly
We are raising an initial **$10,000** to provide practical assistance to approximately *8-10 families that could be one small village or families in and around Trisuli Bazar.
Rather than simply sending money into an unknown relief system, our local relationships allow us to identify families with significant needs and provide assistance directly.
Depending on each family’s situation, donations may help provide:
- Emergency food and clean drinking water
- Temporary shelter and housing needs
- Mattresses, blankets, clothing, and essential household items
- Cooking supplies and basic necessities
- Emergency medical or transportation needs
- Assistance replacing essential belongings
- Short term support as families begin repairing or rebuilding their homes
- Other urgent flood recovery needs identified on the ground
Every family’s situation will be different, so assistance will be based on actual needs rather than giving every family an identical package.
## Where Your Gift Could Go
Our initial **$ 10,000 goal** could be used approximately as follows:
Phase 1
**$3,000 — Immediate necessities**
Food, clean water, clothing, blankets, hygiene supplies, cooking supplies, and other essential items.
phase 2
**$4,000 — Direct family recovery assistance**
Approximately $400 per family, depending on the number of families assisted and the severity of their losses. This may help with temporary housing, household necessities, repairs, livelihood recovery, or other urgent needs. Our first priority is to help our students families who were directly affected.
Phase 3
$2,000 — we will intentionally visit those family’s after a month and assess the situation and provide the relief that’s needed. That’s our relational approach.
**$700 - logistic and transportation
** $ 300 - Documentation
These amounts are estimates. **Our priority will be to use donations where they can provide the greatest direct benefit to affected families.
If we raise more than $10,000, additional funds will allow us to help additional flood-affected families and communities.
