Neil & Will Race to The King
Donation protected
On 22nd June, we are going to be running in Race to The King an ultramarathon stretching 53.6miles across the South Downs. That’s two marathons back to back with a total accent of over 5000ft, that is higher that Ben Nevis (4411 feet).
Our reasons for participating are based around challenging our personal limits and achieving something pretty cool along the way. However, we both feel that it is a great opportunity to raise money for charities close to us.
As proud Welshmen we wanted to nominate two worthy causes, so our choices are Swansea’s Morriston Hospital A&E and a charity called StrongMen.
We have all relied on our local A&E department at some point in our lives. If you’re from Swansea I’m sure you would have spent a few hours in Morriston A&E and have seen first-hand the tremendous effort all those that work there put in. We are all in danger of taking our accident and emergency services for granted and this is our little way of acknowledging the hard work all the staff put in day after day.
Our other choice is related to men’s mental welfare. StrongMen are a recent start-up and non-profit organisation with aims and ambitions to tackle emotional and mental health issues brought about by the distress caused by bereavement, helping those suffering from grief, depression, and PTSD (www.strongmen.org.uk).
If you are able, please spare what you can, and we’ll donate all of it to these very worthy causes. Every last penny you give will be appreciated greatly and will serve as a fantastic motivator to us both, once things undoubtedly get very tough.
Keep us in mind on 22nd June. We’ll be setting off from Arundel at around 7:45am and we hope to arrive in Winchester before dusk. If you live locally then don’t be shy to swing by with some calorie dense treats along the route (pizza, doughnuts or some… pizza) (www.racetotheking.com).
Thank you in advance and much love,
Neil & Will, x
