Help Stella's Road to Recovery

Hello, my name is Brandon, and my partner Samantha and I are raising funds for the rehabilitation of our rescue puppy, Stella.
Here is Stella's story:
On Tuesday May 28th at approximately 7:30am Samantha approached me with tears in her eyes distraught about an abused and neglected pup that she had just spotted. She said it was emaciated, hurt badly, and really needed help. We got in our car and drove to the store to grab some food and water and headed to where the dog was located. When we arrived I was shocked by what I saw. I had never seen ‘a stray’ in this poor of a condition anywhere in DC. The first thing I noticed were the many deep lacerations across her face and then just how skinny and frail she was. The sores on her body were evidence that her disturbingly visible bones were almost ready to penetrate her skin. She was incredibly weak. Her nipples were long and raw and looked as if she had recently been nursing. Her tail was tucked between her frail shaky legs and she reeked of urine. The worst gashes on her face were oozing and infected, but somehow there was still a slight glimmer of trust and hope in her eyes. With everything she had been through her demeanor and temperament was soft, angelic, trusting, and almost even apologetic as she approached us. She saw the can of food I was holding and gestured towards it, so I poured some in a bowl and offered it to her. She took a few small bites and then had drank a little water. I sat down next to her and started comforting her. Realizing just how much care she needed we decided to claim her and take her to the vet. I wrapped her in a blanket, placed her in our car and brought her to the house while we waited for the veterinarian appointment we had just booked. She ate a little peanut butter and drank some water and got a little bit of rest for an hour and a half. Then we went to our appointment at Atlas. The kind nurses immediately took us in, but soon after a doctor advised that she needed very serious emergency care in her current state, and recommended that we bring her to Veterinarian Emergency Group which was only a few blocks down the street. When we arrived to VEG we were greeted by the most amazing staff that immediately started to provide the care she needed. Dr.Ganesh and the entire staff at VEG were incredibly insightful in recommending and executing the best course of action to determine how to administer the best care for us. They treated her wounds, and developed a recovery plan to gradually increase her caloric intake with a specialized diet. We have a long tough road ahead but our baby is a fighter and has the will to live. In 2 short days we are excited about the progress she’s already made. She’s fighting for her life and we’re in her corner now. We have the highest of hopes for this sweet little baby girl and believe that we will get her to her happiest and healthiest as soon as can be!
