“Humankind stands at a precipice. We accept our responsibility as stewards of the land, the source of our spiritual and bodily health. Our species does not exist in isolation from the biosphere; Rather, our fate and that of our children and future generations depend on it.”
-Excerpt from the Declaration of The Gathering of Indigenous Spiritual Leaders - Practitioners of Nature, Wishtoyo Chumash Village October 8, 2011
Who We Are
We are a community of compassionate and loving leaders with the vision of living in conscious partnership with nature.

In Partnership Rather Than Ownership
By reducing our ecological footprint and implementing regenerative practices, we support the Earth to heal and thrive abundantly. As a result of taking responsibility, we and future generations are improving the health of ourselves and the planet.
Who They Are
To realize this, we're partnered with the Wishtoyo Foundation. Founded in 1997, they are a 5013C Non-Profit organization dedicated to protecting Chumash Native American culture and the environment all people depend upon.
"Protecting the environment by looking through the eyes of the Ancestors.”
The Village is a unique creation of a working Native American village on a four-acre historical site at Nicholas Canyon County Beach in Malibu, on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is the only living Chumash cultural village of its kind in Southern California.
They protect and preserve the culture and history of coastal communities, foster responsibility to our waters, marine habitats and watersheds through research, education, community action and where necessary, legal enforcement.

What We're Doing
On August 13th-15th, we will be prepping the land and building a raised garden bed. We will be educating the community on nutrition and being in relationship with the food we eat.

We’ll also be fundraising for materials to build an arbor on the periphery of the ceremonial gathering area to host community workshops on sustainable gardening and live food for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. The estimated cost of this 500 ft. diameter structure
is $35,000.
Rendering of land development goals including the new arbor shade structure.
Cost Breakdown
Plants and seeds- $1500
Soil and fertilizer- $1500
Gardening materials- $2000
Arbor Structure - $20,000 (our goal is to raise a portion of the estimated cost)
The Chumash value of Compensation: If you want to do something for your children, for the land, or for another person, do it because it's inside your heart; don't expect anything in return. Compensation can come in many forms; it can be a child, or happiness, or health, or wealth. It often comes when you need it most, and you least expect it. That is true compensation.
*As soon as donors make a donation you will receive an email receipt for tax deductions.
