Natural Disaster Strikes Eco-Retreat
Donation protected
My name is Luke Sedgwick and I own and operate Glen Oro Eco-Retreat on Glen Oro Farm along with my family. We have suffered a devastating blow due to the recent ice storm beginning Friday March 28th through March 30th.
We have operated rescue/salvage/cleanup/repair crews since last weekend, but a massive job lies ahead.
Myself, our staff, contractors and volunteers are out here every day to try and save this business but we need to raise funds to keep this moving forward. Anything you can donate to this is appreciated more than you could know (unless you have also received help from others, and you understand how grateful someone can be). We have 25 staff that rely on jobs here in a rural area - it is not an impossible mission to get this cleaned up, patched up, rebuilt and operating again - but we do need help.
If you donate, this is what the funds will be used for:
- Excavation work
- Broken and fallen tree Removal
- Replacement parts for accommodations
- Staff/cleanup crew wages
- Arborist work for hanging limbs
For those wondering about insurance, we had the best property insurance available, however it had exclusions, which included ice. Although we had several accommodations damaged by wind on Friday, the majority of the damage occurred on Saturday and Sunday with ice buildup causing branches and trees to fall.
As a business we donate approximately $50k per year to causes and fundraisers for those in need, by helping us to get operational again you will also be helping those groups.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you could pass this on to friends and family we really appreciate that as well. Everything helps.
Sincerely,
Luke and the Team at Glen Oro
