Nancy Drew Holiday Miracle

Donation protected
My beloved dog baby Nancy Drew fell suddenly, unexpectedly, and critically ill on Saturday December 16, 2017, with signs of extreme lethargy, loss of appetite, and at times, inability to move. She was admitted to the hospital ER with a fever of 105.9.  Her white blood cell count was down to 30, and doctors start to worry if it is below 3,000. Her platelets were at 18,000, and she is at risk of spontaneous bleeding at 15,000 - normal platelet count is 150,000.

We have conducted a number of tests, including a bone marrow aspiration to determine if this is cancer or related to an immune mediated-condition. I received the initial results of the bone marrow test today (12/19), and the good news is, there are no signs of cancer. More conclusive results will come in the next 2-3 days. Right now, signs point to an auto immune disease, which we have already started treating with steroids. Her fever has broke, her platelets are up a bit, and best of all, I was able to bring her home tonight (Tues. 12/19, after being in ICU since Sat. 12/16). We will continue monitoring her blood work, and then decide what’s next.

Nancy Drew is my entire heart, and that heart is breaking into a million pieces right now. This came out of nowhere. She is such a special girl and normally so, so healthy and strong.

And, as you might imagine, this is costing a fortune. The goal I set for this campaign is just a portion of that. If you are in a position to contribute even the smallest amount to her care fund, Nancy Drew and I would be eternally grateful. I have some resources, but every little bit counts and helps. It takes a village to save a fur baby. I've done my part in the past, I think – I hope? – to pay it forward to others, and will continue to do so. I'm hoping I've put some good karma out there in the world throughout the course of my life, and am calling in that favor now.

Much love,
Sarah Grace & Nancy Drew
