My nephew has Cancer. He's not even 2.

Hello, my name is Philip. My Nephew has been diagnosed with cancer. Rhabdomyosarcoma. Spencer will be Two years old this summer. He will need to spend the next 18 months undergoing chemotherapy. He will be spending most of that time in the hospital.

My Sister and Brother-in-law will need to spend a lot of that time with him. They also have Spencer’s older sister to care for as she is starting school. My sister will be able to take a leave of absence from her work. Fortunately, we live in Canada, so we don't have to pay for the immediate medical bills. Her family still needs to pay the bills though. She will benefit from EI but there will still be a considerable gap. Especially over the next year and a half. Dad does also work but they are not rich. Especially in this economy, they live paycheck to paycheck as many of us do. Anything you can spare will help them keep their bills paid and help them through this trying time!

Why $30,000? What will that help? Here is the breakdown: This will cover the gap between what my sister earns and what she will have covered through EI. Added to that is to cover the GoFundMe fees plus $5000 for any unexpected expenses related to Spencer's treatment. Things such as any aids he may need, medications not covered by Medicare or modifications to their home. Like I said, they are not rich. They are not poor, but this could devastate them while they are already dealing with the devastating illness of their Son.
