This morning I was awaken by the devastating news that my Moms house burned to the ground last night. She called me from a hotel in Kemptville where herself, her boyfriend, Mark and their dog are staying. My mom would never ask anyone for money or donations no matter how badly she needed it. Anyone who knows her, knows she is a giver and not a taker. Anyone that knows her would also know that she is one of the most caring, kind and compassionate people in the world. My mom works for the City Of Ottawa, in a position where she works with pre-school age children. Mark is newly retired. She has been laid off as we are all aware of what is going on in the world. As many of us, she doesn’t know when she will return to work but now her worries are so much more than just that. She needs to find a new place, that will accept their dog (she will live in a rent before she gets rid of her fur baby!) pay for first and last months rent and then begin to try to furnish a new place. They need clothes, shoes, coats, pots and pans, dishes etc... the list goes on and on as they left the house with just their pjs, her purse and their dog. They sat outside and watched the house they’ve lived in for 8 years turn into ashes. They were renting and have no insurance.
We went today to see if there was anything to salvage and we were able to pull out Marks electric guitar, somehow undamaged! We are not sure how the fire started but we think the wood stove in the unit next to hers, was the cause. We are just thankful that nobody was hurt.
We are trying to raise Money to help with the expenses to ease their stress. I can not thank you enough for any support.
Sincerely,
Shannon Bradley
