Hi. My name is Kiera and I am 24 years old. I have lived in Missouri my whole life. I grew up in the Lake of Ozark’s and currently live in Lee’s Summit.
I love my family, my dog, being outside and books. I absolutely LOVE to read, especially Stephen King.
On December 28th, 2019 my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Brain Cancer. I have always been for the most part, a very healthy person. I had no idea that a tumor had been growing in my brain for the better part of 5 years. The tumor and cancerous cells were causing swelling in my brain. That swelling then caused me to have seizures which ultimately led to my diagnosis. It’s still hard for me to wrap my head around all of it (pun intended).
The doctors determined that my cancer was very aggressive and required immediate surgery to remove the tumor.
That happened on January 10th, 2020. Having brain surgery was hands down the scariest thing I had ever experienced. That was until my diagnosis came back from the Pathologist. I was given a survival prognosis of 3-10 years.
I am 24 years old and my life has now changed forever. I can no longer be sad or ask why. My only option at this point is to fight back.
My fight began on February 17th, 2020. I will continue to undergo intense Chemo and Radiation for the next six weeks. After the initial six weeks are up, I will continue Chemo for another year.
I don’t know what the next several months will look and feel like for me. However I do know that I need help. Along with the emotional burden of this diagnosis comes a tremendous financial burden as well. I am limited as to how much I can work and because of the seizures I can no longer drive myself. Any donations can and will help, if you can’t donate please share my story for others to see.
Thank you, Kiera
