"Hello, my name is Katja, and I'm currently raising funds to cover the veterinary costs for surgery, for my beloved dog, Louise. Unfortunately, she's experiencing severe pain and is unable to put weight on her back left leg. A few days ago, I took her to the vet due to her limping, and she was prescribed anti-inflammatory medication. The vet advised short walks as part of her recovery.

However, during one of our short walks on a leash the next day, Louise spotted an animal and attempted to chase it, despite the restricted movement. In the process, she let out a cry of pain and collapsed to the ground. I had to carry her back home, and since then, she has been unable to walk on her back leg. She's been laying on her bed ever since.

Today, a vet examined her and diagnosed her with a cruciate ligament injury, which requires surgery. I urgently need assistance to cover the costs associated with the procedure. This unexpected event has placed a significant financial burden on me, and any support would be greatly appreciated

Plötsligt halt vänster bak för en vecka sedan. höger knä och diskuterade artroskopi pga misstänkt korsbandsskada.

Rörelseapparaten (hållning/gång): Hälta grad: 4

Belastar knappt vänster bak alls här. Sätter ner tårna lite men lägger ingen vikt på benet. Svullen i knäleden och ömmar vid draglådeprovokation. Tydlig instabilitet känns även om hunden ogillar palpation vaket. Tibiakompressionstest positiv och man känner hur det klickar till i leden.

Övrigt:

Här för undersökning hälta vänster bak. Knäleden svullen och tydligt instabil, främre korsbandet av. Diskuterat att operation är det bästa alternativet för att få hunden att belasta benet och att konservativ behandling med rehabilitering är svårt när man har en så instabil led, då hunden är obekväm med att belasta. Operation täcks ej av försäkringen och matte har inte möjlighet att bekosta TPLO. Har varit i kontakt med veterinär i Växjö som ev kan göra extrakapsulär metod. Sagt att det kan fungera men enl min uppfattning så har man bättre prognos med TPLO. Dock bättre att operera extrakapsulärt än att inte operera alls.

Höger knä är breddat och lite svullet. Känns inte heller helt stabilt. . Där verkar det inte ha varit lika instabilt som vänster knä är nu där man har en tydlig draglåda även på vaken hund.

Gett injektion med Librela idag och diskuterat att hjälpa hunden med alla hopp, stötta henne vid promenader och anpassa motion. Men hon har det jobbigt då båda knälederna inte är ok och mediciner kommer att återställa stabiliteten i knäleden, utan det är bara en symptomatisk behandling för att underlätta för hunden.

UPDATE April 4 2024. I had an appointment with the Ortopedic Vet today and she confirms a complete tear of the ACL on her left knee.

Her Treatment Plan: When a dog tears its cranial cruciate ligament (analogous to the ACL in humans, and sometimes called the same), every time they stand or put weight on the leg, the femur slides/rubs on the back of the tibia. This rubbing causes pain and inflammation, which is very uncomfortable. This is why most dogs with a torn ACL will not put any weight on the leg, or if they do, they will just toe-touch the ground. TPLO, or tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy, is a surgery performed on dogs to stabilize the stifle joint after ruptures of the cranial cruciate ligament.

Most dogs (over 90%) regain a very athletic lifestyle with no post-operative complications and without the need for long-term pain medications. In other words - after surgery and some physical therapy - Louise will be back to her joyful self.

GoFundMe Goal The average cost of TPLO surgery in the U.S. ranges from $3,500-$6,000. In most cases this includes pre-surgery blood work, anesthesia, pain medication, the surgery itself, post-surgery care and to-go-home medications.

Our goal is to raise at least SEK 20,000 to SEK 50,000 towards Louise procedure, but every dollar helps. Please only donate if you can truly afford to!
