Hi everyone,

I never thought I would be in a position to write something like this, but right now I truly need help.

My dad has owned his tree service for over 35 years, and in all that time, he has never had a serious accident—until now.

While working, something went terribly wrong. His lanyard became caught without him realizing it, and when he made a cut, it gave way beneath him. He fell 40+ feet to the ground. (Originally I was told it was 30FT, but I went to the job site once I arrived in Virginia and saw that it was realistically 40+ feet that he fell) :(

He survived—but his injuries are severe. He has a deep head wound, multiple broken ribs, a few pieces broken off of 2 vertebrae in his back and a broken shoulder. I am incredibly grateful he’s still alive, but the road ahead is going to be long and difficult.

Three years ago, we lost my stepmom, and now I am the only family member who can go be with him and help care for him during his recovery. Being across the country in California while he is in Virginia is the worst — I just want to be there with him, to support him the way he has always been there for me and my daughter; his granddaughter.

I’m asking for help to cover:

• A last-minute flight to Virginia

• Care for my daughter while I travel without her

• Living expenses while I’m there caring for him

• My bills at home while I take time off work
