Senara's Shaving the Day
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I am Senara Hettige and next year I have decided to donate and shave my head for cancer research and awareness. Initially, this cause was aimed at raising funds for my aunty Wijaylie who defeated breast cancer but later developed bone cancer. Half of the funds were going to go to the Make A Wish Foundation and the other half would reduce medical bills. However, plans have changed. My beautiful aunty sadly passed way peacefully on the 1st of December this year at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Now I am not raising funds to help her but rather in her memory. Instead, I have decided to donate all the funds raised to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation because they helped her more than anyone could imagine. My aunty herself donated to Peter Mac and I know if she was still here she would want me to donate to them. Peter Mac supported her a lot during her final days, and when she was meant to pass away on one of the first days she arrived at the centre, she lived on for another 12 days with their support.
As a result, my hair will be cut off and donated then shaved off approximately on the 27th of March 2018. Thank you for the countless friends, family and teaches who have given their endless help for launching my campaign, I will forever be grateful to them.
Rest in peace Wijaylie Aunty, thank you for all the kindness and care you have shown my family and I.
