What We Do
The ECHS Endowment Fund is a 501C3 public charity, operating since 2008. The organization provides scholarships to promising students that need financial assistance in order to attend college. The fund has given 12 scholarships valued over $26,000 since its founding. It currently provides one annual funded scholarship in Evans County (Claxton) Georgia and two funded scholarships in Bartow County (Cartersville) Georgia. We plan to expand to rural areas, such as Tattnall, Wheeler, Hancock and Calhoun counties, where poverty and financial needs are greatest.
What we need
The fund desires to establish a $200,000 investment portfolio with a top rated brokerage firm such as Fidelity investments. Annual Investment earnings will be utilized to fund scholarships. Assuming a growth rate of 6% annually, the fund would be able to provide at least $12,000 in scholarships annually on a Permanent basis. The organization has provided 3 funded scholarships annually since 2015 and will continue to provide those scholarships in addition to investment related scholarships going forward.
Types of scholarships
Four year scholarships are awarded based on merit and financial need. Only two monetary amounts are awarded: (1) $4000 awarded at a rate of $1000 a year for four years and (2) $2000 awarded at a rate of $500 per year for four years.
How we operate
This is a small organization with modest goals that can provide a much bigger impact than is readily apparent. 100% of donations go toward scholarships. Operational expenses are donated by officers of the charity. No staff is required prior to reaching an administrative target of 50 scholarships and approximately $600,000 in investment funding. Our goal is to be persistent in our work by maintaining a simple repeatable process and to be financially responsible in all that we do. No overhead expense will be incurred unless absolutely necessary.
According to the Bible
Psalm 41:1
"Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble."
Matthew 19:26
"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."
I choose to help because I was helped as a young student and know the value first hand. A little help can go a long way toward helping a student succeed. I feel obligated to pay it forward. Your help in making this goal a reality is appreciated so very much. Mustard seed growth is possible when you pay it forward!!!
Thank you for caring.
Sincerely
Larry Campbell
