My name is Megan Trigleth and I was born with the disease cystic fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, sticky buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage, and eventually, respiratory failure.
On October 9th I was taken to the hospital because my O2 saturation was 73, normal range is between 95-100. After two weeks in the hospital my doctor informed me that I was entering the end stage of my disease and that my lungs had started to go into respiratory failure. Over the next two years I’ll be in the process of getting put on the transplant list in hopes of getting a double lung transplant. I'm starting this campaign to raise money for my transplant!
