Montessori Education to Nigeria

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sandra and I’m a Montessori educator in the UK. I’m passionate about Early Years education using the Montessori Method. It’s a fabulous way of enabling children to be and think independently. Montessori teaches skills for life as well as the usual maths, literacy and all the other areas of early education.
After having observed some early years schools in Nigeria I was firstly shocked by how little they have in the way of resources but secondly inspired by the efforts of educators and care givers who were making resources out of little more than old cardboard boxes.
The Montessori Materials are mostly wooden, hands on, learning resources, so once you have purchased them they last for many years. They enable children to educate themselves through hands on activity with a well trained Montessori teacher.
I have pledged my time for free to teach the adults in these schools as much as I can, completely free of fees and by giving my time. However, sending resources to a school is where I need your support. 100% of the money you donate will be spent on providing the Montessori resources to a school. If you pledge £20, then £20 will be spent on equipment. Practical Life activities cost as little as £2 each. Practical Life includes skills such as pouring, washing, dressing, using a ruler, threading beads. Before any school receives equipment, they have to show that they are committed to training and willing to improve the education they are providing.

The first school we are supporting is Peak Height in Nigeria. Their teacher Azuka already has some training and has engaged with me regularly to learn more. He has raised some funds and purchased a few basic pieces of equipment, but the children need more Montessori pieces. Additionally, he is already inspiring others by taking what he has learnt to other teachers in Nigeria.
Each activity sent will contain the name of the donor/sponsor, so that the children can thank you. Photos of the materials in the school can be seen on my Facebook page, along with progress updates.
Please support this project, every child deserves a good education.

Thank you, Miss Sandra. Facebook: Sandra Copping, Montessori with Miss Sandra
