This fundraising effort is for the purposes of helping Kristy be able to spend the time she has left with her family. This is why we are affectionately calling these efforts Mission Making Memories. Please read below for the latest update on the status of her condition.
As most people know, her journey with breast cancer started almost 7 years ago. During this time, she has continuously been on chemotherapy, endured more radiation treatments than we care to remember, had a double mastectomy, has lived through 3 major brain surgeries, had a shunt put in, and has fought harder than anyone should ever have to fight.
On Monday, April 5th during a routine office visit she found out the results of her latest MRI. She learned that she is now dealing with something called leptomeningeal disease. If you are like us, you probably have no idea what this is, what it does, or what it means. In short, Leptomeningeal disease occurs when cancer cells migrate to your cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This liquid circulates nutrients and chemicals to the brain and spinal cord. When this happens prognosis for survival is usually around 6 months. During this visit we learned that she "had a few months" left to live. We will never know exactly how long that is, but we want to make this time special. She was put on a steroid to help with the brain swelling and in return hopefully help with her vomiting, mobility, and the loss of her eyesight that she is dealing with.
Her prognosis is not good, and this is why we are asking for your help in giving her the means to make memories with her family. She wants nothing more than to be able to take Carsan to Disney, all 4 kids (Chase, Brooke, Bailey, and Carsan)to the beach, or even on a short weekend trip to the mountains. We are asking you to help us help her make her wishes come true and send them wherever she is able to go while she still can. If you aren't able to donate we ask that you lift us up in prayer and remember us as try to navigate these uncharted waters.
