Our truck at Caminando Por La Paz, Guatemala is getting old and we are now raising money for a new vehicle.. We have a pick up truck which was designed for five people. We often are required to transport 13 or even 14 persons at a time. The truck is 12 years old.
The truck is showing more than it's fair share of ware and tare. We really need a new vehicle, one that will support transport of at least 12 persons. You may know of some of the use we have for our vehicle: (1) transport of students to classes, (2) Going to market for the food we service the kids who come for tutoring, and receive lunch (3) taking our people to church, (4) picking up visitors (5) Occasionally acting as an emergency vehicle for our neighbors.
A new vehicle will be a great blessing to us as we strive to provide education to a group of marginalized children in Zone 18 of Guatemala City. In many cases these are children who have no other educational opportunity. We also provide a great deal of Community Service and at times we function like a Catholic Workers House.
Honestly, the list of our charitable actions is too long to list everything here. You can learn much more about us and our activities at: wwww.fathertomsmission.org..
One way we are striving to become economically self-sufficient is the sale of our Family Coffee. We are far from our goal of financial independence with this effort but we can proudly say we are on the way. Learn more about this at: www.fathertomsfamilycoffee.org.
