Mike Caldwell cancer fund

Update:

Stephanie and her employer decided to end their relationship because they could not come to agreement about making the demands of the job and her role as partner and mother fit together. In short, they are in need of help!

I’m reaching out to you today to ask for you support for a dear friend, Stephanie Beamer, and her husband, Mike Caldwell, along with their five children, Levi (18), Milo (16), Meredith (16), E.J. (15) who is autistic and Jacob (13), who is intellectually disabled. Their lives have taken an unexpected and devastating turn, and we are hoping that together, we can make a difference for this loving family.

Mike’s battle with cancer recently took a turn for the worse after he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer nearly 8 years ago. After two years of chemotherapy as well as a colostomy that was later reversed, life was looking better for Mike. Later, doctors found spots on his lungs for which he was treated with radiation. While this got rid of one of the spots, a lobectomy was needed to remove an additional spot. The procedure was performed only a week after Mike and Stephanie exchanged vows in May 2022.
Following the surgery, everything was going extremely well until it was noticed that Mike’s stomach was distended and more symptoms began to appear. Eventually, he had to have a portion of his bowel removed with a colostomy and an ileostomy performed in order to save his life. As ever rising medical bills were increasing during this time, Stephanie was let go from her job for asking for too much time off. Living off disability and selling mini paintings on the side, the family has been struggling for many years often choosing between paying bills and buying groceries.

Being declared officially in remission with Stephanie able to find another job (one which treats her exceptionally well), the family thought they had turned a corner until this September when Mike began having stroke-like symptoms.

After running tests at Medical City – Alliance, Mike was transferred to a neurosurgeon at Medical City – Fort Worth, where it was discovered he has lesions on his brain from what they suspect is metastasized colon cancer. With Stephanie’s income as the only financial source besides disability, and her 16-year-old trying to save up for college, as well as a mountain of medical debt piling up, the family is asking for any and all support.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help alleviate the financial burden they face and allow them to focus on Mike’s recovery. All donations will go to benefit medical expenses and family expenses.

Your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy mean the world to Mike and his family.
