Hello lovely people,
After surviving the half (2:04), and exams (phew). I am now at Mengo Hospital in Uganda- for my medical elective this summer.
It is better than anything I could have hoped, and I am delighted to be able to give something back by fundraising.
Mengo does life changing work in the local community, especially in training future doctors and nurses, treating people living with HIV, and providing essential care to women in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department (that’s where I’ll be working!).
To be clear: every penny raised goes directly to the hospital. This fundraising is not to cover my travel or personal expenses- it's all for the incredible team at Mengo and the patients they serve.
Thanks to donations last year, Friends of Mengo UK was able to provide:
• £33,350 for essential laparoscopic surgery equipment
• £4,650 in targeted support for the Mental Health Department
• £26,485 to urgently replace anaesthetic equipment in the operating theatres
These figures show just how far donations can go in Uganda—even a small contribution can have a massive impact.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you will join me in supporting this cause!
Love Katie…
