Carl Byers Memorial Fund
Donation protected
My family has suffered a terrible blow. On May 4, 2019 my sister’s husband, Carl Sylver Byers, 41, lost his battle with depression, the number one cause of suicide. A battle none of us were fully aware of. Left to pick up the pieces is his wife of 12 years, Pam Byers, and their 3 children Carl Jr. (6), Xander (3), and Rachyl (1). Carl worked hard for his family as a truck driver, sacrificing himself and encountering loneliness along the way. Pam is a stay at home mom of 3 small children, 2 of which have special needs (autism). The financial stability that Carl provided is gone. There was no end of life plans made or money saved for funeral expenses. No one saw this coming.
Pam is now responsible for medical bills and funeral expenses. Debts she simple can’t afford as a single stay at home mother. She needs help and time to figure out how to financially provide for her children. A burden we can help her shoulder. I am asking that you pray about Pam and her children’s needs and if you are led, make a donation to help her through this tragic time.
We are believers in Christ, the provider of all things, and will make it through this hard time together with His strength. Your support and prayers are very appreciated and needed. Any donation you make will directly pay for Carl and his family’s expenses and any leftover funds will be donated to SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education), a Minnesota based suicide prevention organization. It is very important to Pam that her husband did not die in vain. She hopes his story will go on to touch the lives of others and open others eyes to the warning signs associated with suicide. Signs my family simply did not see.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. and almost 70% of those deaths occur in individuals of the same age group and race as Carl. Losing someone to suicide always leaves those that loved them wondering why and what could have been done to stop it from happening. Most of the time those questions go unanswered. Carl was a husband, father, son, brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, and friend. His family loved him beyond measure. He wasn’t perfect and his marriage wasn’t perfect, but there was hope. Always hope. I wish he could have seen it. Let’s help others see it by sharing Carl’s story and coming together to support a suffering family.
