Meet Molly: A Story of Hope and Heart
Donation protected
Let me introduce you to Molly — my beautiful, adopted daughter from Uganda, who has completely stolen my heart, and the hearts of my boys as well.
Molly is part of the Batwa people, often referred to as the "pygmies" or "forest people." They are an indigenous group who traditionally lived in the rainforests of southwestern Uganda, particularly in the Bwindi and Mgahinga regions. For centuries, the Batwa lived in harmony with the forest, relying on it for food, shelter, and spiritual connection.
But everything changed in the late 20th century when the Ugandan government evicted the Batwa from their ancestral lands to create protected areas like Bwindi Impenetrable National Park — a move aimed at wildlife conservation and tourism. While the world gained access to gorilla trekking and eco-tourism, the Batwa lost everything. Displaced and marginalized, they were plunged into extreme poverty, with little access to food, education, or healthcare.
This is where Molly’s story begins.
I came to know Molly through the most beautiful human, Carly, who works directly with Molly’s village and community. Through Carly, I’ve been able to support Molly by sending just $40 a month — enough to ensure she has food to eat. It blows my mind how far a little can go. The food is purchased and delivered by a local nurse, with no fees or middlemen — 100% of it goes directly to Molly. This simple act is changing her world.
But there’s more we can do.
To ensure Molly receives daily meals and proper hygiene care, she needs a nanny or carer who can come into her village to cook, clean, and look after her. This is where I’m reaching out to you — my beautiful community — to help change Molly’s life in a lasting way.
My Goal: $1,000
This amount would cover the salary of a dedicated carer for an entire year. It’s ambitious, but I believe in the power of community and compassion.
Carly will be visiting Molly in February and will share her journey with us. Together, we can be part of something truly life changing.
Let’s show Molly what love in action looks like.
