Mother&daughter violently attacked by 2cane corso

On September 18th of this year we all received the tragic news that Ms. Jackie and her only daughter, Yodi, were viciously attacked by 2 wandering cane corso dogs. Ms. Jackie is known by all to enjoy morning walks but this Monday morning walk was different. She witnessed the loose dogs approaching a young child and rushed to her rescue only to be violently attacked and mauled from neck down. She attempted to fight them off but ultimately realized it was her final moments. She managed to call her daughter Yodi to say goodbye. This was a call Yodi will never forget. She immediately ran out to find and help her mother and was met with her own battle against these two raging mastiffs.

Ms. Jackie and Yodi are alive today due to the combined efforts of multiple strangers who came together to capture and contain these dogs.

Both Mother and daughter have multiple dog bites, deep puncture wounds and lacerations requiring debridement and repair. However, Ms. Jackie’s injuries go beyond this. These dogs lacked bite inhibition and truly devoured her lower extremities to an unbelievable degree. Ultimately, Ms. Jackie struggled to maintain her own blood pressure and required blood transfusion as well as ICU level critical care at Atrium main hospital.

At this point, the entire family is in shambles. Ms. Jackie remains hospitalized and faces a long road of wound repair with possible skin graft to her lower extremities. The family is now forced to make quick decisions as they face the reality of Ms. Jackie’s disability. Here is where we all can come in to help:

1. Ms. Jackie needs a first floor home for the next 3 months minimum. The family currently lives on the 3rd floor in a small complex where the incident occurred.

2. Ms. Jackie will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. The shift is now focused on her stability in the hospital to rehabilitation once out.

3. The out of pocket medical cost is rising and is only expected to continue as Ms. Jackie undergoes further reparative procedures and learns how to live again.

So far there has been no word from the owner of these 2 cane corsos. We will not wait for her to take responsibility to ensure that Ms. Jackie and her family are taken care of. Lets come together and make a difference for this family.
