Medical expenses for Sam Wilks

Donation protected

On April 10, 2023, Samantha Underbakke-Wilks was diagnosed with stage three Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma at only 26 years old. Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma is a very aggressive form of breast cancer. At this time Samantha was pregnant with her and her husband, Nick’s first child. Once diagnosed, her doctors made the decision to induce her on April 11, one month early, in order to begin treatment as soon as possible. The next week she traveled back to Baton Rouge to have a port placed, giving her no time to recover from giving birth. She has since started her first round of chemotherapy. She will undergo six months of chemotherapy, have surgery, then she will have additional chemo before beginning five weeks of radiation. Samantha will have to travel to Baton Rouge (a 3 hour drive each way) for all chemo treatments and any other important appointments with her team of doctors. As we all know a diagnosis like this comes with a huge financial burden, and for Samantha it is even heavier with a newborn. Samantha will be unable to work for the next 6-9 months, maybe even longer, leaving only one income for their new little family. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated!
