Marc's plea for new a camera (and lens).

My dilemma: I need a new camera and lens. I have been using the same camera and lens for 10 years. It's worn out! Cameras and lenses have moving parts that wear out over time. For the past 3 years, I have had to rent a camera to shoot weddings (at $250 a pop). My camera works well indoors, with studio flash, but with constant light, like sunlight, the images are not sharp at all. I recently spent $350 to have the shutter replaced and another $350 to have the entire insides of my lens replaced. That should have solved the problem. It improved the images a bit, but not enough. They need to be replaced.
What I want to buy: A Canon 5d mark IV camera ($2,800) and a Canon 24-70mm 2.8 lens ($1,600). With extended warranty, tax, and shipping the total cost is $4,700. They are not the latest and greatest, but definitely professional quality! Together they are versatile enough for every type of shoot I do. The reason I want to buy new is that used equipment is made with older technology, and the equipment itself is already on its way to needing repair. A new camera and lens, will last me many years, without problems. And if there were to be a problem, they would be covered under warranty.
What I'm asking for: Donations... in a way. I'm absolutely not asking for money for free! You will get something valuable in return. When I reach my goal of $4,700, I will offer a photo shoot to those who have donated $275 or more. The shoot can be on location (CT or RI), indoors or out, within one year of purchasing the new equipment. If you don't have the space, I can provide a studio, for an additional $75. It can be family photos, senior portraits, head shots, fitness, and of course my favorite, fine art. It will include the shoot itself, plus 10 hi-res images of your choice, in digital format, that you can print and share online, as you please. Shoots are normally $150, plus $20 per image. So, you would be getting a $350 service for $275. If you're not looking for a shoot, but would like to help in some way, I would really appreciate donations of any amount. You will receive my eternal gratitude. And if you ever do decide to hire me for a shoot, I promise, I will give you the best rate I can!
Why me: There are some things I don't like to share too much about on social media. But I will say, I have donated my photography services to many charitable organizations, without the expectation of anything in return. (Hence, not sharing on social media.) I've done photo shoots to help empower those who I felt really needed it, at no cost. I try to donate as much as I can to fundraisers my friends host. And I support my artist friends, whenever I can, by purchasing their art. I'm hoping people will be generous in helping me continue with mine. Thank you all!
