One of our RCMP colleagues, Cst. Mike Matteson, was involved in a terrible motor vehicle accident on August 5th. Mike is being airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital where he will have to undergo multiple surgeries, and will face a challenging road to recovery. Mike's wife Shannon, along with their 7 and 12 year old daughters, need to be by Mike's side to support in him as a family. Although Mike will be taken care of through his benefits, there are no financial supports available for Shannon and the girls to live away from home, in Kelowna where seasonal pricing is far above the average community.
Several Members from the East Kootenay region have already come together to start building some support. We ask that our RCMP brothers and sisters, friends of the Force, and anyone else, please join us in supporting the Matteson family. One thing we can control, is taking away the financial pressure.
The raised funds will go toward travel accommodations, meals and any other expenses arising that the Matteson ladies will face during Mike's time in hospital. We stand with our brother and are here for his family. Thank you in advance for your geneosity!
