Let's LOVE on Michelle!

Hi, my name is Melissa, and I'm fundraising to support my dear friend Michelle, who I've known and loved for 25 years. Michelle was diagnosed with Stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare acquired neurological disorder characterized by progressive muscle stiffness (rigidity) and repeated episodes of painful muscle spasms. Her condition is exacerbated by stress, anxiety, loud noises, sunlight, or nothing at all. It is debilitating. It is progressive.

SPS makes it challenging and painful for Michelle to get around, write, type, smile, talk, and even sleep. Her treatments also mean that she's immunocompromised, and it's unsafe for her to travel to see family or even go to the store.

Michelle is unable to work and needs to reside out of state, away from family, to remain close to the only medical team that specializes in SPS. Because of her inability to work, Michelle needs our help to pay her rent and support her transportation needs and the specialized diet she needs to stay as healthy as possible.
