Legacy Ranch Fire 4-H animal projects
Donation protected
On the afternoon of Saturday, May 9th, a shed at the Legacy Ranch which housed the Steamboat Springs Town Kid Project for our Routt County 4-H program burned to the ground. While the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, the results are the same: the loss of seven 4-H animals, equipment used by our youth to tend to their animals, and the mental anguish of having to deal with an unimaginable situation for four local youth. To see the story as reported in the Steamboat Pilot, please visit https://www.steamboatpilot.com/news/4-h-animals-die-in-legacy-ranch-shed-fire/
The goal of this fundraising effort is to make the kids 'whole' and to help offset the costs they already have into their projects: animal cost, feed cost, and equipment. Because they have no way to sell their completed project now, they have no way to recoup these expenses.
THANK YOU to those 4-H families and others who have offered replacement animals and other locations for these projects if our youth decide to continue. And thank you to those who can help us support these youth in their time of loss.
