One of our dear LCA teachers and family members, the Axsom's are in need of our community's help! Brooke Axsom teaches Spanish to both the 7th and 8th graders. Her husband, Steve works in construction and was working on remodeling a lululemon store in downtown at the mall. His truck- that had all his tools and equipment for the job was hot wired from the parking lot. Police have footage but there is no way to identify who took it. They tried to get insurance to cover, however both of their auto and business insurance policies do not cover theft and so insurance will cover up to $1,400 but that is after they pay a hefty deductible. He lost his truck and over $20,000 in material and tools. Currently he is without work and obviously can’t work again until they find a way to replace what he has lost. He is an independent contractor so has no backing in this situation. They have two little girls at LCA, Charlotte (8) and Rosalind (5) who are both in the Spanish immersion programs.
Brooke's favorite scripture that shows her heart for her God-given gift of teaching our middle schoolers is:
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not burdened by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
This is her favorite scripture because of the imagery. Brooke's desire is that her life would be like the trees described in Jeremiah 17:7-8. With Jesus as the source of life, one will remain steadfast and fruitful in times of hardship and in times of plenty. Blessed are those who trust in the Lord.
