LATITUDE 49 is 10-years old, and we are ready to PARTY in new-music fashion!!!
After a lengthy separation due to Covid, we have reunited the L49-family and are dreaming up all the amazing ways that we can launch into a new decade for the band:
- We want to continue our mission to support living composers by commissioning, performing, recording and celebrating their amazing music!
- We want to reach new audiences and build community connections founded on a spirit of creativity and discovery
- We want to push ourselves out of the safety zone and strive toward the NEW and UNKNOWN
- We want to create dynamic concert experiences that move you!
- We want to inspire a younger generation through educational initiatives
So, you may be wondering, "WHAT are they dreaming up?" The answer is a PARTY that brings us all together, the inaugural L49 New Music FESTIVAL taking place in Calgary, Alberta JUNE 23-25!
While we can't give away all the details just yet, you can expect to hear some fantastic concerts that feature L49 and a host of friends and expert-new-music folks, world premieres, sonic deep-dives, sound installations, diverse venues and offerings, interdisciplinary art, community outreach and engagement, youth education and involvement, and more!
We need YOUR help to help us launch this celebration! Any donation, large or small, will be used exclusively to support the festival and the many financial costs associated with making our 10-yr dream a reality! Our fundraising goal is honorarily set at $10,000, and we know with your help we can get there, together.
A gift of ANY kind grants you the opportunity to vote on our OFFICIAL Festival Name, which is a pretty neat way to have your fingerprints on this project from its inception! Donors will also be publicly acknowledged in our festival program and welcomed into our extended family, and receive updates and exclusive festival news in advance! We love you and we love sharing new music with you. Thank you for all you do to support our initiatives and bring new music to life!
