Rebuilding Business to Survive

My young daughters (11 & 16) have fallen on very difficult times. My wife, their Mom, died of cancer in 2007. I'm now 68 and while we had our own businesses her death and the Crash of 2008 have cost us everything; I lost the house; sold my car; many belongings; and live in a rental; and are on food stamps. I've been a successful photographer but at 68 my Ivy League education has not helped me recoup the horrific losses of my wife’s death, the collapse of her company and the Crash of 2008. And today I cannot meet rent or any obligations. I am not seeking charity or handouts. Over the last 2+ years I’ve applied to more than 4 dozen positions with no success. So I’m back at finding a new way to work at my photography. I’ve taken seminars in Small Business strategies at Santa Fe Community College and am working with a Business Counselor to structure my company and develop dynamic promotional strategies. I’ve targeted Interior Designer here in Central and Northern New Mexico. I’ve gone to Trade Shows. I’ve created a dynamic Google Drive site; I’ve created dynamic Promos; I make cold calls; knock on doors; present myself as the professional I am. I've had positive word of mouth and solid help from my friends. I do all of this while raising my girls and keeping a strong appearance. We struggle every day keeping clothed with a roof over our heads and need a little help until this new venture produces. We are in survival mode. That's it. I don't want this for my ego or myself. I'd be fine living out of my car if I were alone. But I’m not. My daughters were witness to their Mom’s illness and death. They’ve been through enough.
