Koby’s Battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma Cancer
Donation protected
On May 11, 2023, I took Koby to the ER for severe pain in his back and lower left abdomen. After a CT scan the ER doctor discovered a 10cm mass in his pelvic area. We were immediately transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV where we stayed for 7 days. They did various tests and it was confirmed that the mass is a cancer called Ewings Sarcoma. Each year, about 200 children and teens in the United States are diagnosed with a Ewing sarcoma, so it is rare. The current plan is 11 weeks of inpatient chemo and then surgery to remove the cancer. And possibly more chemo and maybe radiation after surgery. He will be treated at Ruby Memorial in Morgantown and UPMC in Pittsburgh. All monies will go toward his care, medical bills, as well as travel and lodging related to his treatment.
Koby is 19 years old. He is the second youngest of six children. He graduated from Fairmont Senior High School with high honors. He then received a football scholarship to play at the college level with Fairmont State University. He also received the Promise Scholarship as well as other academic scholarships. He has worked hard his entire life to reach his goals. He has a contagious smile and is loved by so many people. He is funny, kind, caring, talented, smart, and has a wonderful personality. Our family is devastated and still in shock. We want the absolute best for Koby, as I’m sure any parent would want.
Any help is appreciated, no matter how small.
Thank you from all of Koby’s family and friends.
