Empowering Veterans - The Veterans' Cornerstone for DAV

Tax deductible
Hi everyone! We’re a group of students from a Civic Community class at UNT, and we’re raising money for a cause that means a lot to all of us - supporting Disabled American Veterans.

Every day, brave men and women return home from service carrying more than just memories of battle. Many face lifelong struggles – both visible and unseen – including PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, military sexual trauma, amputations, and substance abuse. Behind every veteran is a family or caregiver, often quietly bearing the weight of these burdens alongside them.

Today, more than 4.7 million veterans in America live with a service-connected disability. They need more than our thanks – they need our help.

Since 1986, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust has been a lifeline to those who served. Through this organization, nearly 1 million veterans every year receive life-changing support that helps them heal, grow, and live with dignity and purpose.

Veterans took an oath to protect our country. It’s our duty now to keep the promise made to them—a lifetime of care, dignity, and respect.

Our campaign, #IHelpVeterans, supports DAV’s mission to empower veterans by raising awareness and funds to expand access to the benefits and resources they earned.

PTSD Prevalence by War Conflict

This figure illustrates the percentage of veterans affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during the three main conflict periods.
  • 11-20% of Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans.
  • 12% of Gulf War veterans.
  • Approximately 15% of Vietnam veterans.
The results show that PTSD is not limited to one generation of service members. It is a long-term psychological effect that affects a large proportion of the veteran community for decades.

This emphasizes the need for continued mental health care, counseling, and access to VA facilities.

With your donation, DAV can continue to:
  • Provide access to life-saving medical and mental health care
  • Offer mobility equipment, rehabilitation, and recovery programs
  • Support caregivers who are essential to a veteran’s healing
  • Fund community-based programs that promote long-term wellness
  • Enhance survivor benefits and advocate for suicide prevention
  • Work directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve services for all veterans
In 2024 alone, DAV helped present over 561,000 claims to the Veterans Benefits Administration on behalf of veterans, representing more than 1.5 million injuries and illnesses. Thanks to their dedicated service officers, veterans received over $30.4 billion in earned benefits last year.

These numbers are more than statistics – their lives changed.

Every dollar you give goes to work through trusted nonprofit partners to provide critical care and hope. Your generosity helps veterans reclaim their strength, independence, and sense of purpose.

By giving today, you're doing more than saying “thank you.”
You're standing shoulder to shoulder with those who stood for us.
You're helping them find peace, healing, and hope.
