Ken Martello

gofundme story.   This is really a gofundKen campaign...If you are reading this, you either know Ken well or know someone who does, or are just a great person looking to help someone.   I am starting this gofundme campaign for one of my very best friends in the world, Ken Martello.  

He is not aware that I am doing this campaign at the time of this writing, and I hope he does not get mad at me.  Ken has been diagnosed with late-stage cancer of the esophagus.  They have discovered tumors in his stomach, shoulder, eye, hip, and other places as well.

Ken is a strong Christian; and although the doctors are painting a bleak picture, we/he continues to claim the promises of God and believes God has healed him and the manifestation of that healing will happen.

This is a brief synopsis:  Several weeks ago, Ken went to the doctor for a routine exam and to follow up on a few other seemingly minor medical conditions that had been bothering him, including an issue that he had been experiencing with one of his eyes.   The vision in his eye was hazy, almost like it had Vaseline over it, and at times it was difficult to do his work, etc.   His doctor advised that he go to an eye specialist for an exam.   The eye specialist was a little concerned and recommended that he come over here to Seattle to have a tumor specialist look at it.  The prognosis was not good, as he did have a tumor; but it wasn't conclusive that it was cancerous as they were not able to do a biopsy due to its location so close to the retina.   The eye specialist ordered up total body scans and MRIs back in Spokane, as his experience told him that typically these types of tumors do not start in the eye.  The scans and MRIs showed the seriousness of his condition.

Currently Ken is preparing for radiation and chemotherapy, which begins next week (the week of February 18th), and will continue on for the next couple of months.   He is not able to do the workload that he usually does, and he is weakened due to the first surgery and his inability to keep food down regularly.   At some point he may not be able to work at all for a period of time.   Thankfully, a long-time work associate who has been doing communications work for many, many years, even longer than Kenny Babe -- is that possible? -- has been helping to keep his phone/communications business going (God Bless you, George!!)  However, the medical bills will begin to come in, and already have, and mortgages and other bills do not stop.   Also his income will be substantially effected over the next while.

As most of you know, Ken has always been a tremendous giver in his circle of friends, family, and associates and has rarely (if ever) asked people for anything in return.   Nor is he now...I am.  This is a great opportunity, if you have ever been on the receiving end of his generosity, or if you feel compelled to help him as a fellow Christian, or a friend, or a former friend, or an acquaintance, or if you have ever been blessed by watching and listening to Ken play in the many bands around Spokane for the past 50-plus years, to give to him now in this time when he is vulnerable and in need.

I know one thing for sure, he does not want pity or sorrow or any negatives; just prayers and believing and faith in God's eternal power to heal.  If you are reading this and are compelled to give or if God is whispering to you, please know that time is right NOW and every dollar will go to Ken for the needs that he has.  Don't fret about how much you give...$5, $10, $20, $100, or much more if you can.

The Magic will be in how many people we can get this out to!!! Soooo...
