Keep Westboro Legion Open

Donation protected
Since we first opened in 1948, generations of Westboro Legion volunteers have raised thousands upon thousands of dollars through licensed branch gaming activities such as bingo and 50/50 draws. These proceeds go to support registered charities that help Veterans, seniors, youth and important community institutions such as hospitals and food banks.

In addition, our annual Poppy Campaign raises money for our trust fund and this is used only to help local Veterans and various local, provincial and national Veterans groups and programs.

When the Covid–19 pandemic forced us to close our building on March 16, our not-for-profit organization lost our only source of revenue for operational costs, from utilities to insurance and other essentials. Although we were allowed to re-open in late July , it was to limited capacity (50 people including branch volunteers), restrictions on revenue-generating events and no guarantee that we will be allowed to remain open. So we are  continuing to turn to our neighbours, members, patrons and others to help us continue to serve our Veterans and our community.

If you can donate – no matter the amount – it will help us pay our bills until we can get back to full capacity and welcome more people to our branch for informal community gatherings, community rentals for larger events at very reasonable rates, and our own special events and activities featuring live bands, sports & games and more – all open to the public.

Donations are accepted by Debit and Credit cards.
If you would prefer to donate offline, you can mail your cheque to the Westboro Legion, 391 Richmond Rd., Ottawa, ON K2A 0E7. If you have questions, please call us and we will return your call ASAP.

And if you have been thinking of joining the Legion and our branch specifically, please consider doing so now. We welcome all Canadian citizens who are at least 18 years of age. We ask only that you support our mission to serve our Veterans and help out in our community.

With your help, our team of dedicated volunteers will do everything they can to make sure we will be around to celebrate our 75th anniversary in 2023.
