Kai's journey

Earlier this year Kai, a 15yr old football player with his life ahead of him was diagnosed with an incredibly rare cancer, Primary Mediastinal B Cell Lymphoma. He had a growth inside his chest pressing on his heart and lungs.
He underwent many procedures including biopsies, lumber punctures, bone marrow, surgeries all whilst being awake, blood counts, ct scans, iv drips, heart echos and trace, hydration drips, portacath and a picc line.
Kai experienced 600+ hours of multiply chemotherapy treatments which caused him to experience many traumatic side effects that he took in his stride.
June 27th Kai rang the bell, his chemo was over and specialists were amazed with his battle and after 70 nights of staying in the RVI he could be at home in his own bedroom to continue sheilding.
Friday 13th November he got the dreaded news that his journey was not over, infact it will only be more intense. He has a growth on the heart sack which makes it extremely hard to take a biopsy at risk of puncturing vital organs, he'll be undergoing more procedures to determine wether the cancer has spread through his central nervous system and into his brain.
This time round it will be most likely that Kai will have to experience strong chemotherapy, stemcell therapy and also radiotherapy.
At this time nothing is certain apart from his drive to finish his GCSEs and get his college placement.
We are raising money to support Kai and his family, for a number of reasons, unfortunately during the pandemic, help and support have been extremely limited and they have battled through this together like TRUE WARRIORS.
Kai will be spending his 16th birthday and Christmas undergoing treatment which could possibly mean he'll be spending these holidays in the RVI but with help and support through this page and family and friends it can be as normal as possible.
No one's year has been straightforward, let's end 2020 on a positive for Kai Raymond Surtees.
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE KAI!
