Kai Survived—But Has a Long Road Ahead
Donation protected
On March 17, 2025, Kailani's life changed forever.
After working an exhausting overnight shift at the rehab facility where she cares for others, Kai was on her way to Kula to pick up her 6-month-old baby. It was a drive she had done countless times. But at 6:05 AM, while driving on the Pali, everything changed. A truck slammed into her Nissan Altima head-on at high speed.
She miraculously survived—but she doesn’t remember the crash.
What followed was a nightmare no one should ever have to live through.
Kai Now Faces:
Multiple brain bleeds – She’s being closely monitored. The bleeds have caused significant memory loss, and doctors aren’t sure how much of her cognitive function will return.
Shattered femur – Required emergency surgery to place a rod due to potential internal bleeding.
Completely shattered knee – Will affect her mobility long-term.
Broken right wrist – Limiting her ability to do basic tasks.
Shattered left pinky – Surgically reconstructed with rods.
No memory of the crash – And a long, difficult road ahead.
Months of rehab, 24/7 care, and no ability to work – She will be at a care facility receiving full-time assistance before beginning a year of physical therapy and recovery.
Kai is a single mom. There is no second income. No backup plan. Just her. For the next year, she will have no way to support herself or her child. To make matters worse, she was supposed to put a deposit down on a new place to live the very day of the crash.
Kai and her baby will be living and relying on family for the foreseeable future while she undergoes intense rehabilitation, but she has no income, no vehicle, and no way to support herself during this time.
Kai isn't one to ask for help—but we know she cannot do this alone. She just needs support to survive this next year. To afford basic living expenses while she does the work to heal.
As a close family friend, I know how much this support will mean to Kai. I’ve seen how strong she is, but I also know she cannot get through this alone. Every donation, every share, every kind message will help Kai focus on what matters most—her recovery.
If you can’t give monetarily, please share. Every bit of love and support will help Kai stay afloat while she does the hardest thing she’s ever had to do: start over.
Thank you and God Bless from the bottom of our hearts
