My name is Adara Teiakohohton:nis Beauvais. I am the eldest daughter of Don Beauvais and the organizer of this gofundme.

Last night, Monday April 27th at 7 pm, my family and I were faced with devastation. Our home caught on fire and burnt to the foundations. Nothing was salvageable.

My father, a proud Kanien’kehá:ka man who has served Kahnawà:ke for well over 20 years, bravely gathered my family and brought them to safety. With that, he has endured 2nd-3rd degree burns on his whole left side. As of this morning, he was discharged from the hospital and is set to make a full recovery.

The damage not only continues with the loss of property. But continues in the sense emotional and spiritual damage. This has left 3 small children and two adults without a permanent stable house.

I’m not someone that likes asking for a helping hand. But during this time of devastation, it is not only necessary, but integral. I only ask that the community come together and do what we do best, UPLIFT each other and don’t allow anyone to slip through the cracks. My dad is an amazing father, partner, and man. My only wish is for him, my step-mother, and my siblings to have security and be of sound mind.
