My name is Courtney Spencer and I was heavily bullied for two years of my life. Bullying was the worst thing that's ever happened to me, but it was also the best thing that's ever happened to me. It changed my outlook on everything: on life, on people, and on the importance of kindness. It made me realize that "depression" and "suicidal inclination" are not just terms you learn in a textbook or words you hear in the media. They are real, this was real... and I wanted to help prevent them from becoming somebody else's reality. With the support of my mom and Doug Brooks, BULLY was created and launched as a nonprofit organization. BULLY stands for Believe in Ur Light and Love Yourself, and it strives to help all kids realize their potential and their importance. Within the last 6 or 7 months, we started planning and preparing a large red carpet event for 20+ bullied children. The girls were photographed by professional photographers and they will soon see their images in a large venue in Charlotte, NC. It's going to be a night to remember with motivational speakers, inspirational words, beautiful pictures, food, music, and more. We will finish the night with the release of lanterns in honor of all who have committed suicide because of childhood cruelty. Unfortunately, we have run into many obstacles in the planning of this event. We are non-profit, so it is difficult to pay for things like venue and food. However, these girls are counting on us and they deserve a night to shine. Please consider donating to help fund this event. ALL proceeds will go to the funding of this event and the remainder will go to future events or will be donated to an anti-bullying cause. Thank you all so much and love to you all.
