JUSTICE FOR SOA
Soa is a one-year-old ring-tailed lemur - a primate - and she has already endured more pain in her
short life than any animal should ever experience.
When Soa came to Ringtail Ranch Lemur Rescue, we knew immediately that something was terribly wrong. She was extremely underweight, severely malnourished, weak, and desperately needed medical care.

Veterinary examinations and X-rays revealed devastating injuries, including multiple broken bones, injuries in different stages of healing, and broken canine teeth. Her veterinary team continues to evaluate her through additional imaging, laboratory testing, pain management, nutritional support, and ongoing medical care.
Soa will require at least one surgery, if not multiple surgeries.

Right now, we have to get her strong enough to face them. Her little body needs time, nutrition, pain management, medications, continued diagnostics, veterinary monitoring, and supportive care. She has already gained a little weight and shown signs of improvement.

Soa is fighting. And we are fighting beside her.
But Soa's story represents something even bigger.

Soa stands for every misunderstood lemur.
Lemurs are primates. They are intelligent, social, complex animals with specialized physical,
nutritional, behavioral, and emotional needs.

They are not toys!

They are not accessories!

And when a lemur reacts like a lemur, that animal should never suffer because a human failed to understand them.

At Ringtail Ranch, we see the consequences when these extraordinary animals are misunderstood, improperly cared for, or simply become more than someone can handle.

Soa now has a voice - and we intend to use it.

We want her story to bring awareness not only to what happened to her, but to every lemur that has suffered because its needs or behavior were misunderstood.

Ringtail Ranch is committed to giving Soa whatever care is required. We will be beside her through every appointment, procedure, surgery, and step of rehabilitation.

But we need our community beside us.

We do not yet know what Soa's total medical expenses will be. Her treatment plan is still
developing as her veterinary team evaluates her injuries and determines which surgeries can safelybe performed. What we do know is that her road to recovery will be long, and we are committed to walking it with her.

Donations will help cover Soa's emergency veterinary treatment, diagnostic testing, X-rays and additional imaging, medications, pain management, nutritional support, one or potentially multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, follow-up care, and her ongoing medical needs.

Every donation matters, and every share gives Soa's story a larger voice.

Soa cannot tell us what happened to her. But we can make sure the world hears what her story represents.

For Soa.

For the lemurs who came before her.

And for every misunderstood lemur who may need someone to stand up for them in the
future.
